Event date:
11/01/2021 - 7:00pm

Join us for an evening with Danielle Joseph (Sydney A. Frankel's Summer Mix-Up), Christina Diaz Gonzalez (Concealed), and a very special surprise guest! Who is it? You'll have to tune in to find out!

A lighthearted tale of summertime mishaps and self-discovery.

Sydney Frankel, soon to be a sixth-grader, is looking forward to a summer of fun with her best friend, Maggie. She figures she deserves some time to herself to do what she wants before her mom delivers Sydney's new sibling in just four months. Too bad Sydney's mom has other plans for her.

Sydney's forced to take a summer course at the South Miami Community Center. She's allowed to take any class, except for what she really wants—a reading course. But when Maggie comes up with a switcheroo plan so that they can both take the classes they like, unexpected complications arise.

Danielle Joseph was born in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts just before Kindergarten. After college she moved to Miami, where she worked in copywriting and as a middle school English/Creative Writing teacher before deciding to share her stories full time. After her first son was born, she joined a critique group and finished her novel, For Clarissa's Eyes Only, which now remains locked in a drawer. She eventually sold three young adult novels, Shrinking Violet, Indigo Blues, and Pure Red. In February, 2012, Shrinking Violet was adapted into the Disney Channel Original movie, Radio Rebel starring Debby Ryan!

Her picture book, I Want to Ride the Tap Tap was released December 29, 2020. Up next is her middle grade novel, Sydney A. Frankel's Summer Mix-Up, releasing November 1, 2021.

"A twisty thrill-ride that will leave you on the edge of your seat!" — Ally Carter, New York Times bestselling author of The Gallagher Girls series

What if you had no name, no past, and no home?

Ivette. Joanna. And now: Katrina

Whatever her name is, it won’t last long. Katrina doesn’t know any of the details about her past, but she does know that she and her parents are part of the Witness Protection Program. Whenever her parents say they have to move on and start over, she takes on a new identity. A new name, a new hair color, a new story.

Until their location leaks and her parents disappear. Forced to embark on a dangerous rescue mission, Katrina and her new friend Parker set out to save her parents—and find out the truth about her secret past and the people that want her family dead.

But every new discovery reveals that Katrina's entire life has been built around secrets covered up with lies and that her parents were actually the ones keeping the biggest secret of all. Katrina must now decide if learning the whole truth is worth the price of losing everything she has ever believed about herself and her family.
